In just a few short hours, 2016 will be over for anyone living in the Eastern Standard Time zone. For others, such as you lovely people basically anywhere east of me, 2016 is already over. For some of you, that’s a very good thing indeed, because 2016 has been a pretty terrible year. From political hellfire to celebrity deaths to personal disasters, so many of us have felt stifled by 2016.

It wasn’t all bad, though. Some of you published books or stories, fell in love or got married or had a child, discovered something super cool, read a lot of great books, made new friends, ate great food, got a new and better job, finished college, and on and on and on. I’m right there with you. A whole lot of bad sprinkled with some wonderful things.

Here’s a look at the things that happened to me in 2016:

The Bad

The Good (because I want to end on a high note)

I think that covers most of the stuff that happened to me, good or bad. It certainly looks like 2016 wasn’t so personally disastrous for me, which is good.

Some of the things listed above are things I actually have some control over. As such, I’ve decided to set a few goals for myself during 2017. You might say they are…

New Year’s Resolutions!

  1. I’m going to full detox off of “bad food”:  namely, soda, high-sugar food items, and other crap foods that I shouldn’t eat anyway. I don’t expect this to hold for the entire year, but I need to do something so I can feel like all my working out is actually doing something. Food, of course, is holding me back. Tonight will be my last day of eating like garbage!
  2. I’m going to create a new morning workout routine that I will stick to for the entire year (with exceptions for illness and the like). This new workout will be a modification of the “1000 Reps a Day” workout. It’ll start out at  around 500, with certain exercises replaced for things I can actually do. 50 pushups, 50 situps, 50 squats, 50 burpees, etc. This will be in addition to my normal workout routines. My hope is to shave off the fat and replace it with a more healthy body. I don’t expect to look like Captain America; just a better version of me.
  3. Do what I’m already doing, but better.

It’s a short list for a reason:  I want to actually do this!

So that’s it for me. What about you? Do you have any New Year’s Resolutions? What were the good and bad things that happened in your life? Let me know in the comments!
