Inside the Blogosphere: Question #12 (I’m in it!)

John of Grasping for the Wind has yet another Inside the Blogosphere feature up at his blog. Obviously I’m in it, because I’ve been in all of them…because I’m awesome or something like that. Or maybe it’s because I like answering questions. That’s it… In any case, the question for #12 was: Though we all know that some books only come out in certain formats, if the world were perfect and you could have a book in any published format, which do you prefer – hardcover, trade paperback, mass market paperback, audiobook or ebook? Why? What do you think?

Christmas: Some Gift Ideas

Well, Christmas is right around the corner, so I thought I would plug some YWO merchandise to anyone interested. Here are a couple items that your favorite geek, social malcontent, or funny shirt person might enjoy (please note that all shirts come in men’s and women’s and you can adjust them somewhat by color or style if you decide you want to purchase one): “You can trust me. I’m from the Internet!”Comes in light colors (men’s and women’s) and dark colors (men’s and women’s) and would go well with your favorite collection of Firefox bookmarks and Wikipedia nonsense. Plus, it’s funny! “I’m not spamming. I’m posting vital information. Just very quickly. Using only one word at a time.”Who said that spamming wasn’t a good thing? Wait…nevermind. Comes in light colors (men’s and women’s) and dark colors (men’s and women’s)! And there are many more things at the YWO Zazzle Store! Check it out and get your favorite person a nice gift!

SF Signal’s MIND MELD: I’m in it!

I’m a bit late reporting this, but what the heck, right? I was recently in SF Signal’s MIND MELD feature offering up a handful of my favorite reads for 2008 (and views too, since I mentioned some films and movies). You can find part one here (which I’m not here) and part two here (which I am in). Look at both though, because there are some huge names in this and a lot of great suggestions in case you’re wondering what to get your science fiction/fantasy obsessed friend, boyfriend, fiance, husband, or family member! That is all!

Donations For Vera: Scalzi Offers Story For Donations

Not too long ago I posted about Vera Nazarian’s financial troubles and how she could really use some donations. Well John Scalzi and Subterranean Press have joined forced to help out by, well, pulling a Scalzi (a term I’m coining to mean any time someone puts a story online for free, but asks for donations and ends up receiving quite a lot of them). Go ahead and check out Scalzi’s story and consider donating! Seriously. Subterranean will meet your donations up to $1,000! You’d be doing a good thing in this time of need, and we all know that more good things need to be done these days. That is all.

The Lurker Meme

Since everyone else is doing this and I’m a curious person, I’m going to play copycat and see who is out there. If you read my blog and have never commented before, I ask you to comment on this post and let me know who you are and where you are coming from (a feed reader, email, bookmark, etc.). Don’t be afraid. I won’t bite. I just want to know who is out there. And if you comment regularly, well, say hello! There are quite a lot of you who are subscribed to my blog, so I’m curious who you are. Maybe mention a link to your own blog or something! Anywho!

The Holidays: Help Out Vera of Norilana Books

I say holidays not because I am one of those anti-Christmas people, but because this is the season to help others if you can no matter what religion you happen to be and many different things are celebrated in this time. So it’s an attempt to reach out to all sorts of people of varying beliefs.Vera Nazarian, the publisher of Norilana Books, is in a lot of trouble. Due to a variety of circumstances she is about to lose her house due to owing too much money to the bank. The full details of her situation and how to donate can be found on the Help Vera livejournal. If you can spare a few dollars, please consider donating. Even just a dollar. And please spread the word. If we can get 12,000 people to donate one dollar, Vera will keep her house. It’s not an easy thing to do, but seriously folks, it can be done!So help if you can and thanks!
